ASWJ Troops Trained By Ethiopians

Somalia's defense minister briefly met with TFG and Ethiopian military officers in Beled-Hawo town of Gedo Region to discuss Ethiopia's role in the war against al-Shabaab militants.

Defense Minister Abdi Hakim Haji Fiji told Somalia Report that Ethiopia agreed to conduct more offensives with the TFG against al-Shabaab.

The TFG governor of Gedo region, Mohamed Abdi Kalil, explained that during the closed door meetings a new strategic plan was being develop to eradicate the insurgents.

“Our first step will be Bay, Kismayo Bakool and part of Gedo so we hope to go for ward,” Mr. Kalil said.

The defense minister also visited military camps in Luq and Bled-Hawo districts to encourage TFG troops and to discuss with the escalating offensives against insurgents in south west Somalia.

Offensives against insurgents were increasing since TFG troops allied with pro-government ASWJ forces seized the control of some districts in Gedo region last month.
