By JD 11/14/2011
Pro-government militia Ahlu Sunnah wal Jamaa detained three journalists working for a local radio staion in Dhusamareb, Galgadud region, officials and journalists said.

“ASWJ soldiers arrived at the radio station early Monday and detained me and another two of my colleagues ... three hours later they released us and said they got wrong information about us,’’ Abdi Jamal Ma’alin Ahmed, one of the journalists arrested, told Somalia Report.

It is the third time this year that ASWJ has Waljamaca arrested journalists in Galgadud region, accusing them of broadcasting stories that cause insecurity. Journalists are targets for arrest and assassination from all sides in the Somali conflict as they seek to control news flow.

Abdi weli Haji Diiriye, ASWJ’s head of public affairs in Galgadud, told Somalia Report they had apologized for the arrest.
