According to Somalia Civil Aviation Authority, the problem started after Daallo representatives refused SKA Arabia Air and Logistics to handle its cargo services of their plane, which had just landed at the airport on Friday.
As soon as the aircraft landed, SKA mobilized its ground handling facilities to offload the cargo. But Daallo operators rejected the offer and brought its own facilities instead. But the SKA had already off-loaded the cargo when a quarrel started.
SKA, which is the sole cargo and passengers handling agency mandated to operate at the airport, petitioned the Somalia Civil Aviation over Daallo’s move.
The civil aviation authority then ordered the Daallo airline to stop operating at the airport and to pay a fine amounting $5,000 for attempting to handle the cargo without authorization. After paying up, authorities said a meeting between the parties will be scheduled to iron out the differences flights can resume.
Daallo is among the few airlines flying into Somalia. It also connects between Mogadishu and Bosaso. Other airlines that operate in Somalia include Jubba Airways and African Express Airways.
